An airport is a complex structure, with a huge number of airliners and passengers requiring continuous assistance 24/7.
Every day in the world thousands of air traffic controllers manage to maintain the safe, orderly and expeditious flow of operations. The complex interactions between them and the pilots are fascinating and yet mostly unknown to the public.

The I.A.M.S. (Interactive Airport Multi-platform Simulator) consists of four synchronized Flight Simulators based at an airport of choice, controlled by a simulated Air Traffic Control (ATC) section (IAMS 04), or self-controlled through radio communications (IAMS 02).
Each user interacts with the ATC or the other aircraft; this forces the “pilots” to use radio communication to coordinate the various instructions for taxi, take-off and flight operations.
Guests turns are managed through an integrated local and online booking system.
The A.E.S. is a single simulator version with the option of a virtual ATC.

I.A.M.S. allows you to live a unique experience: flying an airliner exactly as it happens in the reality, with the advantage, thanks to professional flight simulators, to be able to condense the time of flight by favouring the most interesting and engaging phases.

If at first glance such a realistic system, employing machines commonly used for pilot training, can appear complex. Thanks to the experience of FSC with the public and the sensitivity and preparation of the instructors, the user is guided through an extremely exciting, fun and interesting experience, suitable for any age group.

It is an extremely effective attraction even for simple observers: the flights and operations of the control tower unveil a usually hidden world, which allows millions of passengers to fly every day in comfort and safety.

AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL

The ATC simulator employs operators that have a large, semicircular high resolution screen, showing the view from the control tower of the airport.

They can see the planes traffic on the ground and in the air of the airliners which are taxing, approaching or departing.
Then, a series of specialized instruments like radars and tracking systems are used to properly assist the pilots through the radio.

The ATC operations are visible to the public, (that can also hear the conversations between ATC and pilots thanks to special directional speakers).

The core of the AES is a fully functioning B737 turnkey, complete of instruments and realistic components, designed and built for intensive use.

The cockpit features the most realistic features available, such as the Multipoint Audio System and a High Definition visual system including customized photorealistic sceneries, but what further distinguish the AES from any other simulator turnkey, is the presence of unique functions and features for an easier and faster management of the system and a more complete experience that goes even beyond the flight itself.

BOOKING SYSTEM

Through a dedicated Booking System each customer will begin his experience even before entering the cockpit: two “flip board” monitors will show all flights of the day, each with its own livery and time, constantly updating their status (booked, available, boarding, landed…); while a wireless tablet, with a specifically designed graphic interface, will enable each guest to book an available flight and the real Boarding Pass printer will provide a confirmation ticket.

This simple system will contribute in creating the environment and atmosphere of a real flight as well as provide an elegant way to avoid chaotic queues with a stylish token and reminder of the experience.

DYNAMIC CONTROL LOADING SYSTEM

The main flight control (Yoke) features the Dynamic Control Loading technology, a system applying a variable resistance to flight controls, and, when used with autopilot, moves the controls themselves.
This system operates on the yokes by applying a dynamic force feedback on the Pitch and Bank channels.

Through precise and solid electric motors provide a realistic feedback of the force on the flight controls, which varies according to the air pressure exerted on the aircraft surfaces.
All the vibrations of the aircraft are managed and simulated.

A convenient wireless tablet acts as a remote control for the flight simulator, providing information and allowing immediate access to multiple functions.

The most useful ones in an entertainment environment are: the change of livery, triggering specific failures such as electric, pneumatic, instrumentation, fuel, radio, the centre of gravity and imbalance. It is also possible to activate change of weather, date and time, the instantaneous positioning on the map, fuel level...

MODULARITY AND CUSTOMIZATION

I.A.M.S. is totally modular: it can host various simulator models, ranging from B737NG, to A320, to military and helicopter sims, both in projection or monitor versions, simultaneously. It can be built on request in various sizes, ranging from two up to 14 simulators and more.

It can be also customized to match any brand: from airplanes liveries, to brand identity on exteriors and displays.

A two simulator I.A.M.S system complete with booking platform was tested for six months in continuous operation, during the EXPO2015 inside the Alitalia/Etihad pavilion. The response of the public and Press was an incredible success and it showed us how extremely attractive and valuable such hyper-realistic entertainment/educational systems can be.
